1. Who is Kentucky Katz Cattery and where are you located? Kentucky Katz Cattery is a small personal cattery located in Lexington, Kentucky. We raise our kittens in our home with their parents, our 4 children and 3 dogs which allow them to be well adjusted and very well socialized. All our kittens are healthy, come with a genetic guarantee, vet checked and ready for their new home. We sell our kittens as "a pet only" with a kitten agreement. (Breeders may inquire).
2. What color of Abyssinian Kittens do you typically raise? We typically raise Ruddy Abyssinian Kittens, but also have Reds, Blue, Silver or Fawn. The coat of a Ruddy on a Ruddy brown is a burnt-sienna, ticked with various shades of darker brown or black; the extreme outer tip of the hair shaft to be the darkest, with an orange-brown or orange-cream undercoat. The tail is tipped with black. The underside of the coat inside of the legs should be a tint to harmonize with the main color. The nose is a leather tile red. The paw pads are black or brown, with black between toes, extending slightly beyond the paws. Note: The colors described are interchangeable with CFA and TICA. For example: CFA will recognize a red, though TICA will recognize it as a sorrel or a red. The difference is in the ticking and depth of color. The Sorrel/Red Abyssinian color is interchangeable. The Sorrel/Red Abyssinian, has a rich light red-coca color ticked with a darker coca color to the extreme outer tip of the tail. The underside of the coat and inside the legs should be a light coca or fawn to harmonize with the main color. The nose is leather rosy pink. The ears have a light pink glow on the inside. The paw pads are rosy pink with coca color between the toes and extending slightly beyond the paws. The Red coat is a rich, burnt sienna, warm glowing red, ticked with chocolate-brown to the extreme outer tip to be dark, with lighter burnt sienna undercoat. The tail is tipped with chocolate-brown. The underside and inside of legs should be a tint to harmonize with the main color. The nose is leather rosy pink. The paw pads are pink, with chocolate-brown between toes, extending slightly beyond the paws. The Fawn color, sometimes called Tawny is a dull beige with a warm cream accent. The nose and paw pads are leather pink and their ears have a pink highlight inside them. This color is rare and valued among Abyssinian Breeders and owners alike. The Blue color is a grey coat to brighter blue in color with a warm fawn undercoat. The nose and paw pads a leather pink and their ears have a pink highlight inside of them. This color is also rare and valued among Abyssinian Breeders and owners alike. Silver is much more rare. The are light grey when born and growning into a silver coat with a light grey, silver undercoat that is lighter than the back and sides of their body. Beautiful in color and valued among breeders for certain. 3. Do you have kittens available now or when is your next litter due? YES!!! Our next litter was BORN September 22, 2008. The kittens will be ready by the beginning of December 2008, just in time for CHRISTMAS.
4. Do they blend well with other domesticated animals? YES, ABSOULUTLY….our kittens are part of our family. I personally stay with our Queen when she delivers her kittens and take pictures of the whole process. We include our children when we can and, of course my husband, as well. Our kittens are raised with 4 children, 3 dogs and their parents. Yes, their DAD…he is an icon in delivery and care of our kittens. A true gentleman, he will do his daily checks on them. He watches over them as they play, use the litter box and waits until they eat and then he will eat. 5. Are your cats or kittens caged or kenneled?NO. We use a portable kennel for transportation only. Our kittens have full range of our home. 6. How do I reserve my kitten? Contact us by phone or email.
